THE VALLEY
Twelve original songs from East Gippsland singer-songwriters Cindy Lee & David Swift released Nov. 2021.
‘The Valley’ introduces the famous, infamous and everyday folk that make a town and shares in their stories - tall and true – of the beauty and the terror of this great southern land. Poetic lyrics evoke uniquely Australian imagery of the gothic bushlands of days gone by, yet the contemporary sound brings the music entirely into the present.
CD comes with 8 page booklet introducing the songs
Following the recent release of their languid debut single Precious Cargo, singer-songwriters Cindy Lee & David Swift (Raven & the Dove) bring their alt-country, folk-rock sound and storytelling to this second single.
Nestled in the tradition of celebrating the Australian culture of Small Halls, you can almost smell the candle-wax and sawdust on the wooden floor boards as the nostalgic story of young love plays out at a 1930s dance. But the fresh and modern sound of Gelantipy Hall reminds us that this tale of connecting to another is a timeless one.

DEBUT SINGLE ‘Precious Cargo’ from Raven & the Dove - singer-songwriters Cindy Lee, David Swift and band - from their forthcoming album ‘The Valley’.
Intrigued by local storytelling about the history of drinking dens in their area, Raven & the Dove wrote ‘Precious Cargo’ - an imagining of the journey of barrels of illegal ‘sly grog’ sneaking up rivers and roads to a Snowy River Country shanty in the late 1800s.
