CAVE SONGS

With thanks to Parks Victoria, Buchan Caves Reserve and the East Gippsland Winter Festival we were able to fulfil a vision and realise a dream by performing 8 shows within the Blackwood Chamber of the Fairy Cave.

Our show CAVE SONGS was written for the East Gippsland Winter Festival and included four original songs inspired by the 380 million year old cave - from the vast limestone boulders to the echo of a single drop of water, we invoked the ‘ancient river’ that carved out our ancient auditorium.

Other songs arose from stories about the clandestine wedding of Fairy Moon inside the King’s Chamber in the 1940s and her family’s connection to Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Set amongst the natural ambience and acoustics of the chamber we used aural soundscape, song and storytelling along with light and video projections across the rock walls; creating an environment of what we hoped was a somewhat surreal, beautiful and a meaningful experience for all.

Songs Performed: Cave Temple, Ancient River, Love Looks Not With the Eyes, Fairy Moon

“Love Looks Not With the Eyes”

A song we’re working on for the new album. We performed this at the “Songs From the East” event for the East Gippsland Winter Festival. Loved sharing the bill with East Gippsland original songwriters: IO, Todd Cook and the Rufous Whistlers, Misty Harlowe, Mike Elrington, Organic Joe, Elfian.

“Love Looks Not With the Eyes” was written for our live show CAVE SONGS. Hope you enjoy!

Our new video for
“Sister James”

 Happy International Nurses Day!

Living in the country, our town relies on Bush Nurses for our health care. We wanted to honour their tireless work through the story of Sister James, a Bush Nurse in the 1930s to 1950s (and her 1925 Chevy, Angelina!)

By extension we acknowledge all local healthcare and frontline workers, especially during the pandemic.

Our new video to commemorate ANZAC Day

Many young men from Australian country towns enlisted to serve

~ many never returned.

At the sound of a bugle, a soldier recalls his hometown, community and the mist in the valley he may never see again.
